Summer

Lamp

Steel, fabric, walnut

2014

This lamp named Summer is 9 feet tall. The bended steel tubing composed two main bodies of the lamp. Two different gestures interacting with each other create a conversation between two glowing creatures. The base is a piece of walnut shaped into a boat, which inherence the mysterious feeling that it is from someplace far from the world. Also, the rusts on the tubing, the rough and bold structure of raw metal around the light bulbs and the antiqued brass bracket give it a strong expression and a historic sense. With two dim light bulbs, the lamp casts a very interesting shadows on the wall and ceiling, which looks like a huge clock or eyeball. Instead of creating lights, this lamp creates a mysterious and romantic atmosphere.
